The court can sometimes entertain the wishes of the child. The court’s going to have to basically take a look at the age of the child and the emotional and intellectual maturity of the child, and then make a determination as to whether or not it’s going to be able to consider that opinion or the wishes of for a custody arrangement. At that point, the court will make a decision on yes or no. If it entertains that, then it will be a part of the consideration that it makes when it’s going to make a final determination as to custody.
