Dependency or dependency law is where a case has been brought before the court for the court to decide whether or not a child is in need of certain services that should be provided by the state to ensure the safety of that child either in the home with the parent or possibly outside of the home of the parent. Maybe they need to be taken away or placed with foster parents for awhile. The court decides if that child is in need of those services and then tries to make sure that those services are provided as necessary to reach permanency is what it’s called for the child. A permanent placement for that child.
