Joint tenancy with a right of survivorship essentially means that during the life of two people, that piece of property is deeded or titled to those two property owners together. However, should I one pass away then the other one automatically assumes complete ownership of it by what we call right of survivorship. That is a right that operates outside of the probate process or a need of a will or any sort of court contention. It is an automatic thing that occurs upon the death of the joint tenant.
