Timesharing is the term that has sort of replaced the idea of custody or joint visitation. It’s the division of time between parents of a child, whether it’s in a divorce or a paternity case and it’s the schedule. Usually a timesharing schedule is created in one of these family law cases where you divide the time and say which party gets the child for the first part of the Christmas holiday or the second part or how are you gonna split holiday vacation time or just generally during the week. There are many ways you can do it and it’s pretty flexible. A lot of people will do week to week visitation or two days and two days and then they alternate the weekends. But really, the courts will accommodate any timesharing schedule that you can agree to and that might work best for the families and is in the best interest of the child.
