In Florida, there are two different levels of criminal offenses. One is a felony and the other is a misdemeanor. If you are convicted of a felony, then you could face anywhere from 366 days in prison all the way up to imprisonment for life or even the death penalty for a capital offense. For a misdemeanor, the crimes are punishable to a maximum of one year in a county jail. Now for both of those levels of crimes, you could be sentenced to probation. However, that is not a guaranteed deal. Even if it’s your first offense, you could be sent to prison, depending upon how severe the offense that you’re convicted of actually is. Basically for each one of these, it ranges from probation all the way up to incarceration for some period of time or in the most severe cases, the death penalty.
